This hike is a fun one to do only 35 min drive from christchurch,
hightlights were
- Trees are beautiful and different from normal, lots of bird life, you follow a stream for a bit
- black berries to eat along the way
- you can do it in a loop
- breathtaking senery on your drive to the start of the hike
where do i begin the walk?
8.7 km along summitt road look for a sign on the road which says “omahu bush” see pic below and you can park beside the sign this is where the trsck starts.

40min one way
how do i get to the waterfall?
follow kirks track then rhodes track go in a clockwise direction which is better so your facing the views.
- Follow the yellow track untill you get to a crossroads (a 4×4 track) take a left turn onto the blue track(rhodes track)
2. look out for the right turn (its signposted) this will take you into the bush and to the water fall 2 min hike)
3. On your way back take the yellow track as this makes it a loop track (tip if the track comes to a fork always take the the track leading up hill) This will take you back to the carpark.
