Yes on leads

Distance?

3km from car park one, about a one and half hour walk one way

How many carparks are there to start from along the track?

Three – so you can choose your distance

How do I get there?

Follow Acacia Bay Road past the boat ramp and on for another 2km.  The track starts at the first carpark on the left.

Where did you start?

We started walking at the third car park. Here we walked through bush for about 15 min then onto some flat rock which lead us through a barely marked path for 5 min until we could not walk any more as it was just steep cliffs and water.  here we sunbathed and watch many boats go past to view the famous maori carvings.  We would have been keen to see them but we would have had to swim approximately 200m and it was freezing cold. (Note to self: bring a wetsuit or a inflatable kayak)  Definitely going to bring one next time!

This is the Maori carvings we could have swam around to and seen, we were sunbathing on the far point on the right.  As it was October the water was freezing cold and we decided to leave it for another time.
